Purpose



The purpose of this program is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of the applications of engineering and its effect upon our lives and the choosing of an occupation. The content and activities will also include the study of entrepreneurship, safety, and leadership skills. This program focuses on transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the technological tools, machines, instruments, materials, processes and systems in business and industry.


Some of the learning outcomes in this program are aligned with the Standards for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology published by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association. Aligned outcomes are indicated by STL followed by the standard.

Program Structure



This program is a planned sequence of instruction based on the Project Lead The Way engineering program of the same title. Although there are variations in course sequence depending on implementation, students typically complete the three foundation courses (860550, 8600520, and 8600530), at least one of the elective courses, and the capstone course. Listed below are the courses that comprise this program and a sample schedule (Note that this a sample and may not be reflective of how the program is implemented in your district):
