Williams College in Massachusetts operates one of the world's leading master's degree programs in economics for public sector officials from emerging and developing nations. We are looking for talented candidates with the potential to become policymakers in their nations.  We are now accepting applications for the session running from August 2010 to June 2011. The MA curriculum is composed of two semesters with an intensive January course between them.  Students are offered courses in macroeconomics, development economics, econometrics, and public finance, among others.

Organization of American States Scholarships

Organization of American States offers scholarships for advanced study at the graduate level. Citizens or permanent residents of OAS member States who hold a university degree and who meet the requirements to pursue advanced studies or research in the field chosen. Studies may be undertaken in any of the member States of the Organization of American States, with the exception of the country of which the candidate is a citizen or permanent resident. An OAS Fellowship provides some or all of the following benefits: Round-trip air travel, economy class, between the point of residence and study site. Monthly subsistence allowance which will vary according to the country of study. Tuition costs, when pertinent, paid directly to the study center. A limited annual allowance for books and study materials. Health insurance. A preliminary on-line application may be required. Deadline varies, usually prior to January 1.

Fulbright Scholarship Program

Applications for Fulbright awards are received by the commission and preliminary selections are made by the commission board, with final approval by the presidentially appointed J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in the United States. In approximately 90 countries, the competition is conducted by the United States Information Service (USIS) post at the U.S. embassy. In most countries there is a very stiff competition for awards, and priorities may exist regarding disciplines, career level, type of activity, etc. The scholarship covers tuition, living allowance, medical insurance etc. Deadlines vary from country to country but they are more than one year before enrollment at the CDE.


Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarships

Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships provide funding for one academic year of study in another country. This award is intended to help cover round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, room and board expenses, and some educational supplies up to US$25,000 or its equivalent. The most common type of scholarship offered, more than 1,100 Academic-Year Scholarships were awarded for study in 2002-2003. Applications must be obtained from local Rotary Club. Deadlines vary, but are often 1 1/2 years before the start of a program.


Aga Khan Foundation

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant/50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June. The Foundation gives priority to requests for master's degree level courses. Deadline: March 31st.

AIM: to enable recent doctorate recipients to use and expand Harvard's extraordinary resources to tackle complex environmental problems. The Environmental Fellows work for two years with Harvard faculty members in any school or department to create new knowledge while also strengthening connections across the University's academic disciplines. Graduate Assistantships

Available to: Students who have shown academic accomplishment, skills, and related experience. Full-time students are preferred to fill the positions available.

 

Award amount: Both full- and part-time assistantships (in research and/or administrative positions) are available to qualified students. Assistantships carry the value of full or half tuition, as well as a stipend. Amounts awarded depend on whether the student is a full or partial assistant.

 

Length of award: Assistantships are given on a per-semester basis.

 

Due date: To be considered, students should file the Graduate Assistantship application, which is available in the application for admission. Hench Post-Dissertation Fellowship at the American Antiquarian Society

Scholars who are no more than three years beyond receipt of the doctorate are invited to apply for the Hench Post-Dissertation
Fellowship, a year-long residential fellowship at the American Antiquarian Society. The purpose of the post-dissertation fellowship is to provide the recipient with time and resources to extend research and/or to revise the dissertation for publication. Any topic relevant to the Society's library collections and programmatic scope, and coming from any field or disciplinary background, is eligible. AAS collections focus on all aspects of American history, literature, and culture from
contact to 1876, and provide rich source material for projects across the spectrum of early American studies.

The twelve-month stipend for this fellowship is $35,000.

GRADUATE PUBLIC SERVICE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM and graduate assistantships at the University of Illinois at Springfield[WU#146]


The Graduate Public Service Internship Program (GPSI) is a unique internship experience that provides full-time graduate students with the opportunity to gain experience in their field through an internship while earning a master’s degree from UIS. GPSI interns work 20 hours per week during the academic year for a stipend of $950 per month, and 37.5 hours per week during the summer for a monthly stipend of $1900, and receive a 40 credit hour tuition waiver and an annual $300 professional development fund to be used for workshops, journals, etc. GPSI is a competitive internship program with only the most qualified selected for the positions.

The GPSI program accepts applicants from all majors who have completed either an undergraduate or advanced degree. Applicants must have been awarded the degree prior to starting the internship which begins August 16 of each year. The deadline for application completion is March 15th.


GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS (GA)


Graduate assistantships at UIS are designed to recruit outstanding and promising students to graduate study with special attention to enhancing diversity, to provide appropriate graduate-level learning experiences, to provide support that enables graduate students to complete their degrees in a timely fashion, and to provide the campus with support services.

Graduate assistants' activities are varied, and may include conducting survey research, mentoring undergraduates, developing websites, creating print materials, doing library research, participating in faculty meetings, serving on search committees, and helping with classroom instruction.

The monthly stipend for first year graduate assistants is $887.50 per month ($7,987.50 for the nine month period) during the academic year, from mid-August to mid-May. Graduate assistants also receive a tuition waiver for 8 to 12 credit hours per semester, and graduate assistants who serve during the fall and/or spring semester receive a tuition waiver of up to six credit hours for the subsequent summer session. The deadline for application completion is March 15th. Assistantships begin August 16th.
