Objectives of the course:

Presentation of the fundamentals of chromatographic processes; their application in qualitative and quantitative. The chromatographic equipment is discussed and presented during Laboratory classes. Process chromatography.


Course description: Fundamental relationships in chromatography. The column and mobile phase in gas chromatography. Instrumental requirements for gas chromatography. High performance liquid chromatography. Instrumental requirements for HPLC. Qualitative and quantitative analysis in chromatographic techniques. Process analysis – fundamentals of the application of process analyzers. Economical aspects of process analysis. Collection and sample preparation systems for process analysis. Column switching in gas and liquid process chromatography. Deferred standard. Results presentation in process chromatography. Equipment specification for process chromatography. Examples of applications of chromatographic methods in process control.


Assessment methods:

Current tests during laboratory classes, final written control work

Objectives of the course:

The student should obtain knowledge of electrochemical methods and processes focused on environmental protection.


Course description:


The knowledge of electrochemical processes for purification of waste waters involving the cathodic removal of heavy metals, electrooxidative destruction of organic pollutants and the production of oxidants used for water treatment is provided. Examples of the design of electrochemical reactors and their performances are given. Techniques for pollution monitoring are considered in parallel. Electrochemical sensors are regarded from the point of view of both the detection and detoxication of pollutants in water and air. Electrochemical processes as a route for generation of electrical energy are shown concerning chemical properties and processing of active substances involved in conventional and advanced primary and secondary cells. Special emphasis is focused on long-term performance of rechargeable and environmental cells and on battery recycling.
