The aim of course

The aim of this course is to teach the principles of protection equipments and devices that used in energy power systems to the final year students.

Learning outputs of course

1) Comprehend power system operation and faults

2) To classify and identify hazards resulted by various faults

3) Familiarized with the switch gear equipment that used in power systems

4) To select suitable protection method and equipment by identifying the fundamentals of protection

5) Being able to apply analytical approaches to conventional problems in the area of power systems.




Course description

High voltage circuit breakers, bus-bar systems, substations, measuring transformers, fuses, power system grounding, power system faults, relay types, characteristics and their structures, transformer protection relays, generator protection relays, transmission line protection relays, overvoltage protection, work safety and prevention of accidents.
